MC-Rwanda

Since 2011, MC-Rwanda has empowered underserved youth in Bugesera with vocational training and life skills, transforming lives through education, health, and economic empowerment.

About MC-Rwanda

Who They Are

In partnership with Jacqueline’s Human Rights Corner, MCW Global established a community center in Kayenzi, Bugesera, in 2011, focusing on empowering underserved youth, including teenage mothers, out-of-school youth, and those with disabilities.

MC-Rwanda provides vocational training in tailoring, computer applications, and English literacy, alongside essential life skills in leadership, entrepreneurship, and health. This holistic approach aims to break the cycle of poverty and enhance education, health, and economic security in the Bugesera community.

MC-Rwanda is an international NGO registered with the Rwanda Governance Board and guided by a local leadership team.

The Need

MC-Rwanda seeks to respond to the growing needs of youth in the areas of skills development and social and economic transformation described in the Bugesera District Development Plan. Bugesera is a district recognized for its opportunities to achieve economic transformation due to the strong potential of young people. Unfortunately, the increasing lack of basic employable skills among the population, particularly youth and girls, impedes on the District’s efforts to achieve its transformation goals.

What They Offer

Against this backdrop, MC-Rwanda aims to empower the community in Bugesera by helping young people acquire the vocational skills they need to thrive socially and economically. We target the most disadvantaged youth in the district, aiming to help break the cycle of poverty by leveraging their strengths and offering them the opportunities to learn new skills and competencies. Our social programs aim to help the youth connect with one another and encourage the community to tap into their potential and discover their talents.

Vocational Training Courses

Economic Security

Launched in 2011, our vocational training programs (i.e. Information and Communications Technology and Tailoring) offer Rwandans the practical skills they need to find employment and secure a steady income either in existing businesses or at ones they start. In 2018, our ICT program expanded to reach people with special needs.

Youth Leadership

Social Projects

Since 2011, we have offered youth a range of social activities, from trauma counseling to performing arts and from sports to reading. Today, we offer traditional dance, modelling, and karate to help the youth in Bugesera. We expect these activities to create spaces for youth to connect and grow together as emerging leaders, who learn to collaborate with their peers in
addressing pressing needs in their own communities
